Henry G. Carriere
Father Henry Carriere pled guilty in December 1991 to three counts of child sexual abuse. At the time, Carriere was pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Roseau, MN.
From 1938-1941, Fr. Carriere attended the Crosier Preparatory Seminary in Onamia, MN and St. Paul Seminary from 1941-1946. The Most Revered Francis Schenk, Bishop of Crookston, ordained Carriere on June 16, 1946.
Assignments included assistant pastor at St. Anne’s in Crookston, MN and St. Joseph in Fertile, MN from 1946-1948. Carriere also served at St. Philip in Bemidji from 1948-1950; St. Rose in Argyle, St. Mary and Radium, from 1950-1952. He was an administrator at St. Lawrence, Guthrie and St. Theodore, Laporte, from 1952-1955. Father Carriere served as Chaplain at St. Joseph Hospital in Park Rapids, MN from 1952-1955 and Pastor at St. Joseph in Brooks from 1955-1972. St. Vincent’s in Plummer, MN was his next assignment from 1965-1969 followed by St. Anthony, Terrebonne from 1969-1972 and St. Rose in Argyle from 1972-1982. Fr. Carriere finished his career at Sacred Heart in Roseau and St. Mary of Badger from 1982-1990. He retired July 2, 1990 and moved to Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN until his death on November 3, 1990.
