Will the Supreme Court Decide to Protect Pedophiles or Kids?
(Minneapolis, MN) – Today, the Minnesota Supreme Court will decide if Minneapolis school Harvest Best Academy can be held legally accountable for the abuse of a student perpetrated by former physical education teacher and coach Aaron Hjermstad.
Does public policy and the law in public schools protect sexual predators or kids? That is question that the Supreme Court will decide today. In the case of Minor Doe 601 v. Best Academy, the district court found that the school could hire and protect a sexual predator with impunity because of the law of governmental immunity in public schools.
Best Academy and its administrators made a conscious choice to hire a pedophile who abused dozens of kids at its school. Best Academy and other schools across Minnesota have avoided consequences when their actions harm kids because of the law of governmental immunity. The Minnesota Supreme Court will announce its decision today at approximately 10:00 a.m. CST.
We will be hosting a live, virtual press conference at 11:00 a.m. to discuss to outcome of this decision.
